Launch of the book Sublime
This artist's book features 5 engravings by Carol Bernier, printed in Montréal by Alain Piroir. In addition to these original works, 3 short texts written by teenage girls in remission from cancer add a touching note to this book. Poet Hélène Dorion has also contributed a beautiful text to this exceptional work.
A new work will take its place in a collectors' home next week. I'm delighted to have custom-made this diptych to fit in perfectly with the space and light available in this passionate couple's home!

BACK FROM ICELAND
After a stay in Iceland, Carol Bernier comes back with new works on paper created in Akureyri. Far from her usual references, the artist worked with inspiration from her surroundings and the Icelandic summer light. She is now back in her studio, preparing for an exhibition in Halifax in January 2014.
For her new exhibition at Galerie Simon Blais, Carol Bernier presents a series of very small format paintings on the theme of landscape. The installation of 120 small paintings evokes landscapes of Iceland, where the artist will be in residency during the summer of 2013.

Voir l'islande at the Vieux Presbytère in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville
Carol Bernier: Voir l’Islande is at once a wish, a dream, an image and a fantasy. I'll go there one day. In the meantime, I can invent an unusual land. The journey is not the goal and the canvas is not the end. I simply strive to cultivate a close link between my vital energy and the trace I leave on canvas.
